TRICKS

What is Tricks training
Tricks training is teaching your dog specific fun, structured behaviours that go beyond basic obedience commands. Unlike “sit,” “stay,” or “heel,” tricks are often more playful, creative, and entertaining—but they still build real training skills.
Examples of dog tricks include:
-
Spin or twirl
-
Roll over
-
Play dead
-
Give paw or high five
-
Crawl
-
Jump through a hoop
-
Fetch specific objects by name
-
Bow
What dog trick training develops
Even though it looks like fun (and it is), trick training also helps with:
-
Focus and attention on the handler
-
Better communication between dog and owner
-
Confidence, especially in shy or nervous dogs
-
Mental stimulation, which helps reduce boredom and unwanted behaviours
-
Coordination and body awareness
Why Tricks training is useful
Trick training isn’t just entertainment—it strengthens obedience foundations and can make everyday training easier. It also builds a stronger bond because the dog learns that engaging with you is rewarding and enjoyable.
